Specialty finishes we apply

What shapes a specialty finish project
These finishes are labour-intensive by nature, and every factor below is about hours on the wall rather than material on the truck.
Wall condition
Venetian plaster and limewash both telegraph what is underneath them. Cracked, uneven or previously painted walls need more preparation before a decorative coat will lie flat and read correctly, and skipping that shows immediately.
Coat count and burnishing
Venetian plaster builds in thin successive layers, and limewash builds opacity gradually rather than covering in one pass. A burnished glass-like finish takes considerably more trowel time than a matte one. Curved walls, columns and tight trim slow it further.
Access and sealing

Can Venetian plaster go over existing painted walls?
